Every year, APIL hosts an auction to raise funds for summer public interest stipends to fund law students working in unpaid public sector internships over the summer.  Last year, through the auction and the generous support of the Tsai Center and the Squire Patton Boggs Foundation, we were able to fund 18 students by providing them with $3,000 summer stipends.  This year, we have the goal of funding 20 students and hopefully also increasing the stipend amount to $4,000.  We would really love to have your support and assistance in raising funds for our students!

We need your help and generosity to support our students’ work in the local community. Public interest internship stipends are of great philanthropic value. The stipends we fund not only allow future lawyers to gain community-minded experience and training, but also provide much needed legal assistance to charitable organizations and their clients. Many of the recipients of these prestigious stipends will devote their careers to public interest work.

Please help us meet our fundraising goal of providing 30 stipends by attending or donating to our annual auction, which will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. The auction will be open to the public and attended by members of the Dallas legal community, as well as SMU Law faculty, staff, and students. The event includes a silent auction, food, drinks, and fun. Any donation of product or services from your business would be greatly appreciated.

We welcome both monetary donations (gift cards, gift certificates, and memberships) and in-kind donations (merchandise or services). Donations from local businesses are the key ingredient to making this event successful.

In appreciation of your generosity, we guarantee exposure of your business during the event. At your request, we will display your (individual or business) name on a sign, and you will receive two admission tickets to the auction. Donations valued at $250 or more will also receive further recognition at the event. SMU is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax deductible (Tax ID #75-0800689). We thank you in advance for your support and appreciate anything you can contribute to this worthwhile effort.
